Hurry Up Y’all and Get Yer’ Tickets for “The Saga of the Big Canoe Kid”
By Margo Vallone
Tickets for the rip-roaring Comedy Ensemble production of “The Saga of the Big Canoe Kid” will go on sale Monday, May 25. This six-scene melodrama was written and produced by Jackie Agers, and the production will celebrate our nation’s 250th independence anniversary. The hilarious play, is set in the north Georgia mountain community of Big Canoe in 1876, and it features talented local performers depicting hilarious Wild West heroes, villains, gunslingers, gold miners, Indians and flirtatious gals who hang out in Miss Scarlett’s infamous Man Trap Saloon.
There are 32 characters in the play—a few of the lead characters are performed by Big Canoe residents: Jim Dewberry--The Duke, Dale Hood—Bad Bart, Kelly Kepley--Miss Scarlet, Joan Puls—Miss Purity, Judge Jonah—Craig Wilkinson, and the Narrator—Kevin Tillery.
Two performances of the play will be held in the Sconti Clubhouse Overlook Room on June 27 at 2 p.m. and at 6 p.m., with another matinee performance on June 28 at 2 p.m. Seating is available on a first-come basis. Tickets are $20 for adults, and $10 for children under 18. Although this is definitely a family-friendly show, it’s suggested that the play is more appropriate for kids age 10 and above.
Below are the links for the three performances. Seats are limited to 100 people per performance. Click on the link for the performance you’d like to attend on June 27 or June 28 and place your order, which will be charged to your POA lot. You will receive an email confirmation of your purchase.
